How does the extension read my flow?
Through the Salesforce session already in your browser. When a flow is open in Flow Builder, the panel reads its saved metadata from your org’s API. You don’t export or paste anything.

FAQ
Do I need an API key?
Yes, from Anthropic, OpenAI, or Google. You paste it into the panel, and it’s saved in Chrome on your computer.
Can I use my ChatGPT, Claude, or Gemini subscription?
No. A chat subscription isn’t an API key. Keys come from the provider’s developer console. In Flow Companion’s Settings, each provider has a Get a key link.
What does it cost?
The extension is free. Your AI provider bills your account for what you use, at its own rates.
Can I try it before I get a key?
Yes. On the first screen, choose See it on a demo flow first. The four actions play real answers recorded from Claude Sonnet 5. No key or Salesforce org needed.
Will it work in my org?
Yes, in sandboxes and production, if your Salesforce user has the API Enabled and View Setup and Configuration permissions. Orgs that use API Access Control, or sit behind Microsoft Defender for Cloud Apps, block it.
Does it change my flows?
No. It reads the flow as last saved and writes nothing back to your org. You make any changes in Flow Builder.
Will my security team need to approve it?
Probably, as with any Chrome extension. Nothing is installed in your org, the source code is public, and the flow goes only to the AI provider you choose, under your own key. The Privacy and security page in our docs lists what it reads, sends, and stores.
How is this different from Agentforce in Flow Builder?
Agentforce is Salesforce’s own AI, built into Flow Builder. Your org needs an Agentforce entitlement, and an admin has to turn it on. Flow Companion needs nothing in your org. It runs in Chrome, with your own API key and the AI model you choose.
How big a flow can it handle?
Most flows fit. If a flow is too big for the model you picked, the panel says so before you ask and suggests a model that can read it.
Can I save a copy of the flow?
Yes. Choose Download JSON from the ⋮ menu at the top of the panel to save the flow’s metadata as a file.
